Chloral Hydrate

Original Recipe

• A. 40 gms Chloral Hydrate
• B. Add distilled H₂0 to bring to a total volume of 500 ml

Store in refrigerator

DOSAGE

• 0.5ml chloral hydrate per 100 gm body weight IP
• Supplement with approx 1/4 the induction dose as required.

A significant percentage of rats have demonstrated abdominal adhesions with Chloral Hydrate anaesthesia. Sue Walling has had improved results using a less concentrated solution of chloral hydrate that is freshly prepared using sterile water.
